As Haven and I have been preparing for The Art of Energy, I’ve been thinking a lot about what happens when two people bring their own bodies of work, their own stories, and their own ways of seeing the world into the same room.
There is something beautiful about not needing to make those things identical.
Rise + Rebel has been teaching me about worthiness, visibility, self-expression, becoming, and the courage it takes to let ourselves be seen as we are.
Haven has been creating a space that seems to ask many of the same questions through a completely different language: healing, art, energy, nature, Soul, and the practice of simply being.
And somewhere in the middle, The Art of Energy began to make even more sense.
As we prepare to gather together on 8/8, Haven shared the following piece with her community. When I read it, I was struck not only by what she was saying, but by how she said it.
Haven has a gift with words.
Her writing moves the way energy moves. It bends, repeats, plays, breaks apart, comes back together, and somehow asks you to slow down long enough to hear what is underneath it.
With her permission, I wanted to share her words here too.
Because perhaps preparing for The Art of Energy is not only about preparing a workshop.
Perhaps it is also about witnessing what happens when we give one another enough room to express what is becoming through us.
Here is Haven, in her own words.
It has been two years since I became the owner of Charmed, turned the Haven Center for Healing heARTs.
In this time I have been learning to bare my Soul and unfold while I also learn to hold a different kind of space, and a LIGHTer... pace. Where I am learning to remove all the masks you know as thy face.
I have not wasted these fumbles, and tumbles as I learn the art of thyself.
Two years since I hand curated every shelf, every specimen, every feather and every layer of Haven that ever wanted to BE.
Humbly.
What WE have allowed by lifting such shrouds, is that I am BEcoming someone I can be proud of. Someone who can rise above her own shadow and really flow with every part of her cells.
Did you know I felt like hell. As if heaven had some kind of spell over my heart that said Haven no one likes your art. You are too weird. You are too much. Too wild. Oh, that's just Haven... you making excuses for me being me, yet without offering any real guidance...
But then I heard THIS
Child,
You are whole. You are safe. You are seen and you are loved. You are perfect just as you are.
And that voice was coming from inside my heart. Somewhere deep inside of me, I was learning my own language of Soul. I was learning to hold myself in the moments that I needed for my own evolution. Such evolutions were getting deeper and deeper.
I was learning to be a keeper of something greater than I.
My how time flies.
8 years ago I walked into the Commons Courtyard on SHEM Creek, and it was at a time in my life that life was really hard. The center was then a beautiful and whimsical store named Charmed and an amazing woman named Jennifer gave me an opportunity.
What Charmed, now the Haven, has gifted to me is UNITY.
Is the UNITY to BE ME as both Heaven and Earth, and through such opportunity I have been laboring this deep BIRTH that we call Soul.
Healing is not something to be SOLD. Yet we gobble it up sometimes as our next addiction. A a distraction. An interesting refraction while working in TIME.
We hold these moments, these talismans, this art... simply as an offering. A place to start, and to begin again when you just needed a place to flow. To grow, or to get to know yourself a bit better.

The ART is created in the ways you MOVE THROUGH what has challenged you, what has inspired you and it is SO VERY IMPORTANT to learn that what TRANSPIRES in you... is BEAUTIFUL too.
WHEW
What a gift it is to be able to EXPRESS what you are learning to undress in
SOUL.
Sometimes life requires BOLD. Sometimes the story unfolds literally right as you are writing, and sometimes... when you quit fighting... you will find a certain kind of quieting that can only be stilled when you allow your expressions to hit the air.
To care for your own needs by learning your own Art... That is the place in which this offering starts.

What I love most about Haven’s words is the reminder that none of us arrive at some final version of ourselves.
We observe. We stumble. We create. We release. We choose again.
That is much of what I hope we get to explore together during The Art of Energy.
Not how to become someone else.
Not how to perform confidence or healing or power correctly.
But how to become more aware of what is already moving through us, what we may have been suppressing, and what changes when we give ourselves permission to meet that energy with curiosity instead of shame.
Haven and I are preparing the space now, and I am genuinely curious about what the room will teach all of us.
That feels important to me.
I am not walking into 8/8 believing I have all the answers.
I am walking in as a facilitator, a creator, a student, and a woman in her own process of becoming.
And somehow, that feels exactly right.
